Sleep Better: Introducing MattressGrove
Rest is essential, and the space we sleep in plays a quiet but significant role in making it possible. A thoughtfully designed bedroom, with furniture and materials chosen for both beauty and function, is an investment in something that matters more than aesthetics. When we curated our new bedroom collection, we wanted every piece to honor that, and the mattresses we picked to complete our bed frames were no exception. That’s why we turned to MattressGrove.
Who They Are
MattressGrove is a third-generation, family-owned mattress manufacturer based in Greensboro, North Carolina, with more than 50 years of handcrafted production behind them. The company has operated by a single standard since its founding: would we put our family name on it? That question has kept them focused on something the broader mattress industry has largely moved away from: quality, materials, and personal responsibility for the final product.
What They Make
Every MattressGrove mattress is handcrafted in North Carolina using locally sourced materials, including steel coils, fabric, and foam. The mattresses we carry at Curated come from their Simply Luxe collection, which includes three models designed to meet a range of sleep preferences.
The Artisan Plush is a plush-comfort innerspring mattress ideal for back and stomach sleepers. Its individually encased coil system minimizes motion transfer, gel-infused memory foam promotes airflow and temperature regulation, and a hand-tufted knitted cover with four-way stretch keeps the mattress looking and feeling its best over time. A zoned comfort quilt layers silk and wool for natural cooling and provides distinct support zones from shoulder to foot.
For those who want a little more cushion, the Artisan Super Pillow Top adds a generous pillow-to player while maintaining the individually encased coil system, gel-infused memory foam, and silk-and-wool zoned comfort quilt. It offers the plush, enveloping feel of a pillow-top with the structural support that holds up over years of use.
The Artisan Ultra Firm is built for sleepers who prefer a firmer, more supportive surface. It shares the same coil construction and hand-tufted knitted cover as the other Artisan models, with a convoluted zoned foam layer that delivers consistent, head-to-toe support. The Ultra Firm is a great option for anyone recovering from back discomfort or simply preferring a more grounded feel.
All three models are available in twin through California king. For maximum support and performance, we highly recommend pairing them with MattressGrove’s 18-Slat Heavy Duty Foundation, which is available in the same size range. Built from sustainably grown Canadian Spruce and assembled in Greensboro, the foundation features three times the slats of a standard foundation, plus double center support, for even weight distribution and better airflow beneath the mattress.
Why We Partnered with MattressGrove
As a locally owned business, we choose our vendor relationships with intention, favoring companies with honest practices, real accountability, and products that genuinely deliver. When a company’s values reflect our own, that matters as much to us as the product itself.
MattressGrove is a third-generation family business. John and David Grove are still at the helm, personally invested in each and every mattress that leaves their Greensboro facility. They source materials locally, oversee the hand-built construction of every mattress, and hold themselves accountable for the finished product. Their commitment to craftsmanship is inseparable from their commitment to healthy sleep. They know that a well-built mattress isn’t just a well-made object; it’s the foundation for how someone feels when they wake up in the morning. Sleep is one of the most important investments a person makes in their daily wellbeing, and MattressGrove takes that seriously.
MattressGrove’s commitment to quality extends beyond the mattresses themselves. They aim to be good stewards to their employees, customers, retail partners, and the communities they serve, and that philosophy is reflected in how they operate. They employ nearly a hundred people at their factory, and more than half of their team has been with them for over a decade. That kind of loyalty comes from a company that invests in its people, which translates to care in what they make. That matters to us.
